New Jersey Plan
- Unicameral legislature (representation based on equality)
- Current Congress would be maintained with new powers granted.
- Executive Branch: elected by congress, would serve a single term and could be recalled by State governors.
- Judicial Branch: life time service, appointed by executives
The small states opposed the Virginia Plan, since it
would have given overwhelming power to a few large states. They banded
together and presented the New Jersey Plan, which called for a single
body of Congress in which each state would be equally represented.
